The vehicle interior road noise is generated by the interaction of the road surface and the rolling tires. This sound emission is generally separated into an air-borne and a structure-borne contribution. The structure-borne component is transmitted through the vehicle assembly (tires, suspensions and chassis) which behaviour has a important influence on the perceived vehicle interior road noise. The tire inflation pressure and, more generally, the tire stiffness are significant influencing factors.<
